The Star is Back

22 February 2010

A full-scale mock-up of the EC175 is back again at this year’s Heli-Expo, this time featuring the most advanced SAR mission concept. In 2008, Eurocopter awed the crowds at Heli-Expo when it unveiled the EC175 for the first time.

This medium twin made its first flight in December 4, 2009, in Marignane, France, and is now undergoing flight tests. To date, 114 customers have placed orders for the EC175, and EASA, FAA and TCAA certifications are expected for the second half of 2011. The first delivery is planned for the second half of 2012.

This sixteen-passenger helicopter boasts a spacious, easy-to-access cabin and storage area that can hold extensive mission equipment and which make loading and unloading multiple causalities easy.

With its high payload, outstanding internal fuel capacity offering long-range and endurance capabilities and the latest avionics equipment, the EC175 provides the most advanced search and rescue (SAR) solution in its category. It can perform an autonomous start and take-off in less than five minutes.
